I would agree with the reviewer who said that these caps are noisy. We ruined a camera by putting it in a bag with one of these lids on a klean kanteen bottle. I wrote to klean kanteen warranty, and this was their response "We are sorry to hear that but we do advertise that our sports caps are not leak proof."
Bottles are great - don't buy this version of the sports cap.

I have been using two of these caps since 2008 and I have had no leak and no problems. I appreaciate the fact that it has held up so well. There is a slight squeak when you drink but it is very minor (note vast over-dramatization in other review) and a whole lot better than having a piece of junk that leaks. I have purchased $40 water bottle with really bad leaking sports lids so I know the difference. From my experience this cap has worked well in the two years I have been using it.

Don't buy this cap. It's totally noisy when air leaks out (the first time i heard this noise, I was driving and it was so loud that it scared me--i thought something was wrong with my car). This also is not a leak-proof cap, though i don't think it was intended to be or claims to be. The cap over the spout broke off after a few weeks, and then the loop connecting the cap to the bottle broke. Buy the sport cap 2.0 instead (but make sure not to buy the recalled version). I still love Kleen Kanteen, but this cap is worthless.

The Klean Kanteen Sport Cap leaked after 2 weeks of use. The tiny plastic plug used as a valve fell out. This also occurred with 2 other Klean Kanteen Caps which I purchased with a thermos. Something has changed with the quality of the caps. I also have Klean Kanteen thermoses with the flat top caps. The top part of the caps have actually separated from the bottom section of the caps. I now have 7 Klean Kanteens, one for each family member, with only 2 working caps.
