We are going on our first camping trip this weekend so I haven't really slept in it yet. However, we pitched it in the backyard for a test run. It was easy to assemble and took us about 30 minutes the first time around. I had no idea that there was a front and back door on this tent. Other tents I have had in the past only had one entrance. I thought this was a great feature. We had it up all day and over night. We had a very heavy rainstorm the afternoon we put it up and only a few drops entered the tent near the windows. I was fairly shocked that it was this waterproof! Of course this was with the rain fly on. Also, my husband is 6 foot tall and he can stand up in the tent which was one of my main criteria for purchasing the right tent for our family. I am very excited about our first camping trip this weekend with my husband, 2 year old son, and dog.

This tent is easy to set up-under 20 minutes. It has a long rain fly and plenty of windows for ventilation. The strong and the overall tent looks waterproof and durable. We wish the room divider was bigger and not just a curtain. The color is not too light. The pockets are incredibly useful! We placed a floor mat inside the tent to prevent moisture from seeping up. The tent dried out underneath very quickly when we took the tent down. Most importantly, the tent fits back inside the carry bag.

We just bought this tent, set it up, have not camped in it yet. We are a family new to camping ("car camping"). Our kids are ages 6, 4, 4, 2.

It was simple to setup, preferably with 2 people due to size of the tent. Not a lot of pieces, and all logical.
It appears well constructed and thoughtfully designed. The mesh is ultra-fine. There's 4 ceiling vents, 2 of them have zip-close covers. The rain fly has 2 plastic windows so you can still see the sky even w/ the fly on (nice).
There is a doormat, nice to stand on and take your shoes off before you get into the tent.
I guess theoretically you could get 8 people in here...but for realistic comfort, 6 adults. There's a center divider, we fit well w/ us on one side and our 4 kids on the other.
We really debated whether to buy a "cabin" style tent, with more vertical sides. I'm glad we did not, it's plenty roomy for us. The sides don't slope in that much, and we can walk upright in alot of the tent. I think a cabin style tent might give you more of the feel of a house; this does feel like a tent, but a spacious one.

We are sealing the seams, and going to use a tarp underneath the tent.
Once it warms up and we start using it, I'll post back if there's any problems. But up front, we're happy with our purchase. I consider this to be a mid-priced but good-quality tent.

Hope this review helps you in your decision. Happy camping!

I'm satisfied with the overall quality and design of this tent. I purchased it for $179 in October 2008. Initially, I was going to go with Eureka's Copper Canyon 10. My concern focused on how well a cabin style tent would hold up in high wind conditions. A co-worker who is also an avid camper owned and swore by the Tetragon 1610 which he used for beach camping on several occasions. He advised that the tetragon design of the tent held up beautifully in severe windy conditions common with beach camping. I went with the Tetragon 1210 because I really didn't want anything too big and I needed a tent that would be suitable for a variety of camping conditions. The tent was a breeze to set up. I went over the directions once and it took about 30mins carefully setting up by myself and 15mins with help. I was impressed with the poles which I felt were very sturdy compared to other tents that I have owned. The fly was a breeze to install. Matching emblems help you distinguish the front from the sides. I seam sealed the tent and waterproofed the rain fly which I believe is a must and an annual routine for any tent. Arguably, the floor could have used a denser material but a tarp placed properly underneath the tent corrected this problem. I recommend always placing a tarp underneath the tent to offset the risk of punctures due to rocks, roots or sticks. I was able to place two twin size mattresses and all my gear inside the tent and had sufficient room to move about. I was able to walk around without crouching while inside the tent. I'm 5'8''. Ideally you could place three air mattresses inside or six sleeping bags but it would take away from mobility and the ability to store additionally gear. Experienced a few rain showers and the tent remained leak free. Only dislike is that the rain fly permits the top of the tent to remain well ventilated. This is great in warmer weather but a huge disadvantage when the temperature at night drops into the 30 degree mark. I would strongly recommend this tent to others.

I had a small Eureka tent for about 10 years and it was great. Just weeks ago I bought the Tetragon 1210 and went for a camping trip. It was leaking water even during light rain. Probably through a place where the zippers meet in a corner. I wrote to Eureka, but got no response. When I called the customer service, theý were not really friendly ant told me, that even when I had the tent for 2 weeks, the zippers are not covered through the warranty and I have to pay for their replacement, which will take several weeks. Surprisingly the person did not realy care,'that their tent with advertised storm shield is leaking.

I have owned Eureka tents in the past and when my last tent (an Outbound) was too old and I couldn't find replacement poles as the company went out of business I decided to search for a replacement and stick with tried and true Eureka.

The is meant as a 2-3 season use tent, mostly with my family. Luckily, Amazon had the tent listed on sale for $95. Then I had a $25 gift certificate and since I didn't need it quick, too the super-saver option. Added to that there was a $10 rebate inside that I didn't know until arrival. So a $170+ tent delivered for $61 started this off well.

Next task, initial setup. Do not even bother trying this alone. With other reviewers comments about potential damage to poles, not worth it. Also, one reviewer didn't like the rain fly. It IS different but gave us no trouble. Flip over the setup instructions and take note of how to guy out the tent. They recommend 8 for best protection. It only comes with 4 lines so I have already invested the $8 for 40 ft line and 4 more adjustment clips. Made a HUGE difference in the wind.

Also note that you MUST seam seal this tent but any normal/frequent/experienced camper knows that you should do that with all tents. Third day of use, it poured and no leaks.

It "feels bigger" than I was anticipating. My last 2 tents were domes with no straight sides so front-to-back gave unexpected room. Also liked the gear loft that can be clipped to the side wall or overhead. We used the sidewall more as we clip our battery lantern overhead.

Would I buy again at normal price, YES, definitely. Am I thrilled I saved over $100, an even bigger yes.

We used this tent for the first time and because I don't know much about tents I asked my husband what he liked and didn't like. He liked that it was large enough to fit 6 people comfortably. It was easy to set up. He didn't like the material used at the bottom of the tent - he said it was too flimsy. Overall he was happy with the tent and the fact that we got it for around $95 (it looks like the price has gone up).

Customer Buzz
I was a little disappointed with this tent after I pitched it in my backyard to the seal the seams (manufacturer's recommendation by the way - and a must). The tent alone is nice. Obviously a 12' by 10' footprint is plenty of room. But the fly is poorly designed.

Since there are doors on either side, I thought the fly would cover the rear just like the front (in the picture) but that's not the case. The brim rods are thin fiberglass poles that fit through sleeves in the fly and they attach to exterior guide holes. But the umbrella fly can only be staked on one side.

I placed stakes where the loops are in between the corners to keep it up for 24 hours and let the seam seal cure. It held up nicely until a 15 mph (or so) breeze came through and turned it upside down the following afternoon. All loops that were staked, except the front two where the fly comes out, came out of the ground. Consequently, the left side of the fly completely ripped. So stake out everything/every time in case Mother Nature decides to sneeze on this tent.

You will definitely need a tarp to place underneath it since the floor is made out of the same nylon taffeta as the walls. And I would replace the yellow plastic stakes with aluminum/steel stakes. The tent may stay put in inclement weather but if it's really nasty, I suspect some rain will make its way through the mesh ceiling even with the fly on because the front/rear do not come below the ceiling like the sides.

The sewn-in gear loft is on the right and just below the mesh ceiling. It can be attached horizontally to store things just above the walls or it can be attached vertically but that will block the view from that window. It would have been nice if the whole thing was detachable. But it will work if/when needed.

The separate room divider can be attached/removed via dog bones fed through loops. It divides the tent into rooms starting from just above the ground and up to the mesh ceiling. If someone is tall, there goes your privacy.

That being said, I think the tent will be OK. I thought I was lucky when I got this on sale for under $100. But I'm glad that's all I paid. Fortunately, Eureka sells replacement parts so I ordered another fly for $39 plus shipping.

Update (May 25, 2008): I received the fly replacement and it is a huge improvement over the one that originally came with the tent. The new design does not incorporate the flimsy brim rods. And it arches over on both sides where the doors are located. One caveat: you will need to order the pole that has been incorporated into the new design. Otherwise, it will just hang down and could get snagged by the door's zipper.

When I went to pitch the tent at the camp site by myself, I noticed the fiberglass poles had stress cracks where the poles connect. So while the tent can be pitched by one person, having another person will help reduce that. I would have given this four stars with the new fly but since that happened, it's still 3 stars in my mind.

This is out 3rd tent and we are extremely happy with it. We have been in driving rains and high winds. We love the fact you can open all 4 sides for super ventilation. Easy setup but does require 2 people or you will crack the fiberglass poles ( I know that from experience).

I have yet to use this tent, but I loaned it to friends traveling to Kenya. It survived the international flights both ways and proved to be a roomy and sturdy home for them during their stay there. Pretty good endorsement, I'd say.
