great product but you have to get the sports top to be able to drink quickly.
I like this a lot. I have the bright violet color and it's quite eye catching and stays shiny even after repeated trips through the dishwasher. One problem I have: the top is extremely difficult to get off. It generally leaves my hand hurting (or if I put a finger through the loop, that finger) for a few minutes and takes around 30 seconds to get off. I appreciate that it's watertight, but so are other water bottles and they're much easier to open. The outside of the bottle is also significantly colder than the liquid inside, sometimes when refilling it from a refrigerated water fountain, it's almost too cold to hold. Overall, I like it and the flaws are minor.
ETA 4/6/09: I've had it less than a month and the lining on the lip threading is peeling away. Not cool, Sigg. Not cool at all.
I would recommend this product! There's no taste when you drink from the bottle, unlike other water bottles. The only thing is since it's made of aluminum, it's pretty easy to get this thing dented--so be careful!
The design itself is sleek, however, after using it for a week, I have found that it is also very impractical. The top can be hard to twist on properly, which is annoying when you're on the move or in a hurry. Another reviewer mentioned this also, that if you drop the top on the ground, the last thing you want to do is put it back on the bottle as this is unsanitary. Also annoying is that you can't tell how much water is left. The bottle itself is not light, which can be deceiving as to how much water is left. I am back to using plastic BPA free bottles.
The Sigg Traveler is a sad representation of our economy. If it's defective, push it out the door any way. I was not only surprised but
so disappointed at the lack of pride with the merchandise from the vender.
I don't have a high regard for Sigg unless they sent the venders seconds and the vender chose to represent these water bottle as first.
This bottle is great! We have had ours for over a year and have purchased many as gifts for people along the way. We have never had one leak. It has saved countless plastic bottles from ending up in landfills, as well as saved us from the chemicals leaching from single use plastic bottles.
Downsides:
-They dent if you drop them
-The one liter size is a bit too large for our car cup holders. My favorite size is the 0.6 liter
- The lid takes a bunch of turns to loop top lid to screw on. I prefer the "Active Bottle Top"
Accessories I bought for the bottles:
-Brush to clean them out
-Neoprene jacket - keeps the bottle from sweating, maintains the temperature better, and covers any dents in the bottle that may happen if it's dropped.
I love it. I have both a 0.6 liter bottle and a 1.0 liter bottle. The 1.0 liter bottle was larger than I expected (the 0.6 liter is the closest in size to a regular plastic bottle of water you'd buy from a vending machine). However, I like the 1.0 liter size to take to meetings or on trips because I find that I often drink more than the 0.6 liter bottle will hold. I also take the 1.0 liter bottle with me often because I can share with my husband and only carry one bottle. However, the 1.0 liter bottle is too large to fit into some cup holders, such as the one built into my camping chair.
I've had my sigg bottles for about a year, and they haven't dented on me. I'm not super fastidious about the bottles, but I'm not very hard on them either. I use them mainly in the car and at meetings, so they aren't being tossed around too much.
I rinsed the bottles several times before using them, but they still had a taste the first few times I used them. They cleared up after a few uses though, and I don't notice any taste from them now. I've been quite pleased. They did well on the airplanes, and they handled the air pressure changes just fine. If you travel, the 0.6 liter is easier to fill from a drinking fountain than the 1.0 liter.
I haven't had any issues with drinking straight from the bottle, and my lips don't touch the threads. I also haven't had any issue with holding onto the bottle when it's cold, and you can always hang onto it by the loop if you don't want to touch the sides for some reason.
I've heard other people say their bottles develop a smell over time, but that hasn't happened with our bottles. We only use them for water though, so maybe that's a difference. I've been very pleased with the sigg bottles, and I would definitely buy them again.
I got just what I wanted. A high quality aluminum bottle at a good price. You have to expect to spend a little bit of money on a piece of metal, but I think that the craftsmanship behind these Sigg bottles warrants the price.
I don't think I can add anything new to the reviews except to say that this was everything I wanted it to be, so I'm definitely not surprised or disappointed. The silver finish seems tough, and I'm glad that this bottle isn't too slick to hold on to. Even when I fill it full of refrigerator chilled water it never sweats or tries to slide away from me. It's able to stand on it's own, and unlike a partially filled plastic water bottle, this Sigg doesn't go falling to the ground if whatever it's sitting on gets rattled a little bit.
I need not add to the discussion of the bottle itself as it is well represented. I am glad to have it and be moving on from plastic. My contribution is with regards to how I received the two Sigg bottles I purchased. They were just placed in the box without any protective wrap or the like. All of the air pillows had been intentionally deflated (big deliberate holes) and they were clanging around in the box which had been shipped from IN to NC. I am very disappointed by the seemingly disrespectful way my purchase was shipped. For a $25 bottle, I would at the very least expect that the items would be properly prepped for their trip through the mail system. Just because the bottles are made of metal does not mean they cannot get damaged or get dirty, all sorts of bits clinging to them, in transit. I would choose in the future to not order them again.
